We skied the full 13km Beaver Pond trail on Saturday the 21st. The loop that crosses the creek and back is definitely not groomed and wasn’t marked that it was closed where we entered it at the “7” marker. When we exited at the “8” it said trail closed. Woops! Luckily it was a beautiful day to track our way through a 3km foot path…

From Syd Jones, Birds Hill Park’s Park Operations Supervisor, on Friday afternoon:
The trails are in not bad shape all considering (lack of snow). The tracks may be icy so be careful, and any hill areas may lack snow coverage in spots. -

Birds Hill Provincial Park 1 week, 3 days ago
Tuesday afternoon, Birds Hill Park — Chickadee, Esker, LimeKiln, Bluestem, east Aspen (all classic trails except west Aspen), -10°.
~1 cm of snow had fallen on the trail system overnight. The new snow was in various states of having been skied-in, so yesterday’s fast trails were slightly slower to much slower today. -

From Edward Zwingerman on Monday afternoon:
Skied Beaver and Squirrel. Conditions good but not great. Needs a little more fresh snow. Hills are hard packed but not icy so very fast but doable. Safe if you can snow plow. Skate skiing looks a bit better but far from ideal. With the terrain and scenery it’s still worth the drive. -

Kildonian Park golf course should be closed, or at least warning signs posted. Where the trail hasn’t been cut through it has been obliterated provide a road for park vehicles. Several of the cut through areas are at the base of hills, skiing across a narrow road with 18 inch sides may not seem like much, but it’s more of a challenge the my ski…[Read more]

First time at Bittersweet today and it was great! Trails are in great shape, really well signed and the promise of a cookie made the last couple uphills easier! Something for everyone, rolling trails and steep fun ones at the far end.
