Grand Beach Provincial Park 1 week, 3 days ago
From Edward Zwingerman on Monday afternoon:
Skied Beaver and Squirrel. Conditions good but not great. Needs a little more fresh snow. Hills are hard packed but not icy so very fast but doable. Safe if you can snow plow. Skate skiing looks a bit better but far from ideal. With the terrain and scenery it’s still worth the drive. -

Bittersweet 1 week, 6 days ago
First time at Bittersweet today and it was great! Trails are in great shape, really well signed and the promise of a cookie made the last couple uphills easier! Something for everyone, rolling trails and steep fun ones at the far end.

The classic tracks are in very good condition with the odd wiggle here and there. Beware of 2 rocks in the tracks. The skate deck is a mixed bag with some good areas and some not so good.

Good news for skate skiers. GUR was freshly combed today.
Classic trails? Let’s hope that BHP can freshen them up tomorrow.

Thank you SOOO much to all who showed up at the Candlelight Ski!!! We had around 40 people, which exceeded our expectations. We had a lot of fun, and hope that everyone there did too! We will be making it an annual event for sure. On a grooming note, skate trails are being groomed as we speak.

Birch and Steepleview mostly double tracked (where space allows) Ravine was packed only, looks like it may now be part of the multi use trail. West side trails all in good shape.

Hey all, the Candlelight Ski is a go. The bit of snow we had has slowed the trails down to a normal speed now. Wax for normal temperatures again. Note: Because the candlelight trail will be 2 way, a few spots have had the trail removed (corners, hills) to encourage snow plowing to slow yourself down, to avoid collision with would be oncoming…[Read more]

Friday afternoon, Birds Hill Park, -13°, light wind, snow flurries.
Chickadee, Esker, Lime Kiln, west Aspen.
~1 cm of fluffy snow slowed down the tracks a little bit. Conditions were A+, as they have been for the past two weeks. Quite a few people were skiing, including a few families.

We skied Lime Kiln on Wednesday afternoon. Despite the chill, the sun was warm and trail condition was excellent, with many other skiers enjoying it too. FYI – Spruce has been groomed for skate skiing.
