Basically 0 conditions in the afternoon . Tried some different waxes but nothing really worked well . Finally went with Swix for dry snow and that worked out ok with skate poles for icy places . Suns rays are beating down in sunny areas and eroding the trails and in shaded areas trails are dry still. Probably best to go after sunset and colder…[Read more]

We received 15 cm of snow Wednesday. We are in the process of grooming the trails today and hope to finish late tonight or early tomorrow morning. Conditions should be great for Friday!

  • April 5: Snow storm grooming update. Even though we ‘officially’ closed 10 days ago, yes, we’ll be doing some trail packing today, followed by a more complete grooming after the snow system has petered out. (looking at forecast highs of 14C and 16C for early next week, with no freezing overnight, the window for decent skiing is becoming very s…[Read more]

We received ~13 cm of snow Sunday. All classic and skate trails are groomed and in good condition. All hills are open, but be cautious on the big hills (Badger, Whitetail, Coyote, Timberdoodle) as the track was not lifted as it usually is. Expect the skate trail to be soft Tuesday.
We plan to groom the trails as soon as possible following the…[Read more]

Birds Hill Park, Monday afternoon, -8° to -5°.
Bluestem, Chickadee, Aspen, Esker, Lime Kiln: 1 cm of fine grained snow fell on the trail system overnight, so the previously icy/ice tracks now have a nice soft surface. Glide is slower than it has been, but it is still good because the new snow is now well skied-in. We really enjoyed today’s s…[Read more]

    • Yes, quite the afternoon in BHP. Skate track glide improved a lot probably due to the snow filling in the pores made by all the suns rays and also covered all the dirty snow . West Bluestem was quick. East Bluestem and Aspen seen lots of weekend use and was worn in places. Probably last chance tomorrow for a good ski in BHP , before the…[Read more]

    Saturday:
The Group Use Road was very firm at 10:45 AM (-3°, sunny), and still quite firm at 2:45 (-1°, sunny). The surface was extremely flat/level, with some remnants of corduroy from Wednesday’s grooming visible on the edges. The two interior bays were not quite as good.

Friday 7-930PM. Tracks are holding up very well, but icy in most places. Definitely klister time.
Did the double pole thing on skating skis, with occasional marathon skate on uphill sections. Worked out well. Skate track is hard . A bit slow by usual spring standards , but still very good . Probably will last til May at this rate of melt . Thnx…[Read more]

We have very good spring skiing conditions at Bittersweet! The classic trails are well-formed but icy in the morning and soft in the afternoon – best skied mid-morning with klister or skin skis. Approach all the big hills with caution. Badger Hill, Cranberry Run and Blue Jay Hill are closed with signage due to bare patches. We plan to groom the…[Read more]

  • Friday afternoon (-3C) the Spruce trail was softening in the sun-drenched areas, and there’s a bare patch near the NW loop. Still good snow coverage and should be skiable for a while yet…enjoy!

    • I really enjoyed Esker this afternoon – it was glorious in the sunshine, and excellent grooming.

  • From Al Stewart on Thursday evening:
A beauty of a day at Birds Hill Park. Lime Kiln and Esker had chiseled tracks this afternoon. Top notch grooming! Kudos to the BHP staff.

    • Agreed. Best conditions all year. Red wax worked well for grip today . Looking for purple klister that no one uses anymore and wants to get rid of. I need purple klister for the days ahead.
….skate on GUR was very good too. Can use skate skis and double pole on classic tracks .
