Portage Golf Course ski trials were re-groomed Dec 31st. There are 6 km of trails in 2 loops. Start that new years resolution early and get out there!

As of noon today about 6 km of ski trails have been freshly groomed at the Portage Golf Course. Trails are available by the efforts of the Portage Junk Yard Dogs cycling club in cooperation with the Portage Golf Club. Please be a member of the Portage Junkyard Dogs to enjoy the trails.

The golf course Trails were groomed at noon today

Even though there is no coming later this weekend I am planning to groom today. I hope to be done by noon I will post the game as soon as I’ve got it done.

Jan 29th: 9 km of trail were groomed on the Portage Golf Course . Trails are in excellent condition.

5 km of trail has been groomed. There were some soft spots where the groomer made a mess but a bit of skiing traffic should fix that up. Cheers!

All trails have been groomed first thing this morning.

I enjoyed skating the world cup trail yesterday, good firm base but a little drifting at some edges. They will be perfect tomorrow after a grooming. I didn’t ski the classic trails but they were groomed while I was out there and they looked perfect.

As of 3:30 this afternoon, all trails have been groomed. 9 km total.

Existing trails have been groomed and some new trails added including some connector trails along and across the lake near 16th street. Trails are in great shape.

I skied the outer most loop, my first time at Squirrel Hills. All trails were groomed and the variety of slopes and climbing were enough to keep me warm. An honorable mention for the fabulous warming hut and outhouse within the trail system. This trail is nicely sheltered with beautiful scenery. I highly recommend a visit to ski these trails.

Portage Junkyard Dogs groomed about 6 km of ski trails on the Portage Golf Course. In sheltered areas the trail is in good condition. In wind swept areas the snow is thinner so be prepared to step around the odd patch of gravel or grass exposed by grooming.

Skate trails are packed but await a final grooming touch – I can’t wait. I classic skied the Farm trail, Whites way, Cottonwood, all were great. There is amazing grooming talent at work here. I will be back soon.

Trails are coming soon. I checked the golf course and we need to wait for one more snowfall before we start grooming. There are just too many in-between areas that are blown clean or very thin. My fingers are crossed for next weekend. Either way, I will post an update here.
