From Cheryl Pearson:
Philippe and I skied Inverness Falls on Friday (January 28), and Jessica Lake (Loop A and C, and trail from Jessica Lake to Rainbow Falls) and Alfred Hole on Saturday. Conditions were fantastic. Trails had been freshly groomed at the time. Absolutely no one on these trails all weekend which was nice for us, but a shame that more people are not out there enjoying these beautiful trails.
We also drove to Pine Point Rapids but trails did not looked groomed (from what we could see at trail head) and there was a lot of foot traffic, parking lot full of hikers. We decided not to try skiing this trail. We thought it was a groomed trail based on online descriptions?
I’ve checked to ensure the Pine Point Rapids trail is still groomed for classic skiing by Manitoba Parks.
Their website and maps show it as a ski trail.
On AllTrails, a post on January 15 says: “Beautiful trail. Cross country skiing trails looked like they were recently groomed. …”
And finally (definitive info), Manitoba Parks’ new Winter Interactive Map indicates: Pine Point Rapids Trail, Status: Good condition, Length: 6.5 km, Activities: Ski, Walk, Snowshoe, Condition Report: New snow, Groomed January 27, 2022
Cheryl, my guess is that by the time you got there, the classic ski tracks had already been obliterated by walkers.
