Saturday, -10° to -4°, sunny, windy but it’s a dense forest.
The week-old public health orders permitted the first weekend day trip / practice for the Charleswood Ski Club. 18 of us in 4 groups. Great temps / snow / tracks / people.
There were fewer people on the trails today than on the two Saturdays we skied at Sandilands in January. I don’t know why.
We checked out the Black trailhead, 3 km further south on Hwy 210. ~8 cars could park there. Good to know on a busy day.
Update to the Red trail section impacted by a snowmobile:
Its impact on the classic track was minimal, probably because the snow was hard-frozen at the time.
However, from the northernmost hydro line onwards for a few hundred metres, fresh snowmobile tracks (today) have totally destroyed the classic track. Fortunately, much of this short section is up and down where the classic track takes a beating from skiers.
