Six Charleswood Ski Club members skied a couple laps of the Lac du Bonnet Cross Country Ski Club’s 11K trail network in the Agassiz Provincial Forest on Saturday. Conditions were very good considering how little snow has fallen so far this winter.
We saw about a dozen rocks at various places along the trails. I tried to pay attention to the track, which is difficult when you’re in a quiet beautiful forest, but I still skied over 4 rocks (according to my ski bases). Most of us were using rock skis.
Two other highlights:
1. Karen & Carl Nilsson were also out skiing — LdB XC Ski Club President and groomer. We thanked them and paid our trail fees in-person.
2. Twice we saw a Pine Marten in a tree.
