Birds Hill Provincial Park 7 months, 3 weeks agoMonday morning classic tracks were excellent – firm and fast with minimal debris. The Group Use Road looked like a lot of skiers had enjoyed it on the weekend, but was also in great shape. Thanks to park staff for Friday’s grooming!

Birds Hill Provincial Park 8 months agoSunday morning . Classic trails are in great shape! Yesterday’s light snowfall has been worked in by skiers and glide is really good. The sun is shining and everyone is smiling!

The Snow Motion Classic will be held on Sunday February 19 at Birds Hill Park’s Group Use Area 1 trail (“Group Use Road”). We have booked the trail from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM that day with Parks.

Birds Hill Provincial Park 8 months, 1 week agoDid Esker and Lime Kiln late this afternoon, trails in great condition since grooming, glide was ok and not many have ventured out in the cold by the looks of it.

Birds Hill Provincial Park 8 months, 1 week agoDid west Bluestem Fri. mid afternoon.Freshly groomed.Wonderful sunshine and cold.Glide was fair,a bit jerky in spots with a wee bit of snow blown in in spots.More traffic would help so get out there and enjoy!

Birds Hill Provincial Park 8 months, 1 week agoThursday late afternoon I was the first ski-jorer on soft corduroy on the north loops of the Spruce Trail. Trail was a bit softer than usual, but great for the dogs, and the forest provided shelter from the nasty wind. Many thanks to park staff for maintaining this great trail!

Birds Hill Provincial Park 8 months, 1 week agoSo, me and my friend G hit the trails at noon, Jan 25 in the heat of the day. Skied outgoing Esker to Chick,crossed over to Bluestem, did the Aspen loop west of Chick and then Esk back to the stables. The new snow had been skied in, the tracks well defined, and the glide was magnificent. No wind,and sunshine. Great ski on green wax.

Skate ski on the Group Use Road and the two internal bays: 5+ cm of snow has fallen on the park since Sunday evening. Manitoba Parks’ Interactive Map says the GUR was last groomed on Friday. Parts of the road were somewhat slow in the loose snow: the two internal bays and west of the Chickadee parking…[Read more]-
Parks says it was groomed but it wasn’t…I was there Sunday, and it was in the same shape it was the previous weekend.. similar was stated about Spruce Trail for skate as well.. seemed they did some classic on Friday and didnt bother with the skate trails..

Birds Hill Provincial Park 8 months, 1 week agoSunday skate at BHP, evident it hasnt been groomed for a while.. the report says it was groomed on the 20th, but it sure didnt seem like it.. hard packed up the middle, loose snow on the edges… in all honesty looked the same as it did the previous weekend I was there.. still good conditions and no boot traffic which is always a nice bonus…

The trails are in not bad shape all considering (lack of snow). The tracks may be icy so be careful, and any hill areas may lack snow coverage in spots. -

Birds Hill Provincial Park 8 months, 2 weeks agoTuesday afternoon, Birds Hill Park — Chickadee, Esker, LimeKiln, Bluestem, east Aspen (all classic trails except west Aspen), -10°.
~1 cm of snow had fallen on the trail system overnight. The new snow was in various states of having been skied-in, so yesterday’s fast trails were slightly slower to much slower today. -
