Wildwood Community Centre 5 months, 3 weeks agoWildwood 2.6 km golf course loop was groomed tonight before freeze up. Classic Track and Skate are in good shape should be extremely fast/Icy on Monday !!! We will groom the entire 6 KM’s if we get fresh snow this week.

The Group Use Road was very firm at 10:45 AM (-3°, sunny), and still quite firm at 2:45 (-1°, sunny). The surface was extremely flat/level, with some remnants of corduroy from Wednesday’s grooming visible on the edges. The two interior bays were not quite as good. -

Skied Esker Friday 4pm. Fully groomed, no bare patches on the trail. A bit icy in places, especially closer to the start/end of trail, but still pretty good. -

Birds Hill Provincial Park 5 months, 3 weeks agoFriday 7-930PM. Tracks are holding up very well, but icy in most places. Definitely klister time.
Did the double pole thing on skating skis, with occasional marathon skate on uphill sections. Worked out well. Skate track is hard . A bit slow by usual spring standards , but still very good . Probably will last til May at this rate of melt . Thnx…[Read more] -

Birds Hill Provincial Park 5 months, 3 weeks agoFriday afternoon (-3C) the Spruce trail was softening in the sun-drenched areas, and there’s a bare patch near the NW loop. Still good snow coverage and should be skiable for a while yet…enjoy!

I really enjoyed Esker this afternoon – it was glorious in the sunshine, and excellent grooming.

A beauty of a day at Birds Hill Park. Lime Kiln and Esker had chiseled tracks this afternoon. Top notch grooming! Kudos to the BHP staff.-
Agreed. Best conditions all year. Red wax worked well for grip today . Looking for purple klister that no one uses anymore and wants to get rid of. I need purple klister for the days ahead.
….skate on GUR was very good too. Can use skate skis and double pole on classic tracks .

Birds Hill Provincial Park 5 months, 3 weeks agoChickadee and Bluestem were also groomed today (Wednesday).
The Group Use Road, including the two interior bays and the middle road, was excellent, pristine, perfectly firm corduroy.

Birds Hill Provincial Park 5 months, 4 weeks agoTuesday 5:30 PM Skied Blue Stem from GUR parking to stable, quite fast until got to groomed Aspen, nice conditions, but a bit slower around Aspen part of Chickadee and back to parking. Beautiful sunny day- I’d like to point out though, with all the information and warning signage, there’s an awful lot of foot traffic on the trails. I don’t get it.…[Read more]

Birds Hill Provincial Park 5 months, 4 weeks agoMonday afternoon Aspen was freshly groomed, but Bluestem and Esker were not. Tracks are still good although getting wide in a few spots. Lots of ski days left – get out and enjoy great spring conditions!

When I left at about 3:30, the GUR was not groomed. Perhaps they groomed Aspen due to the deer carcass.

Birds Hill Provincial Park 6 months agoJust realized we left our son’s Fischer Tisa junior skis at the chickadee trailhead on Sunday March 19. If anyone has seen them or has tips on how to locate them we would appreciate if you could get in touch!

Birds Hill Provincial Park 6 months ago3-6:30 PM Fantastic afternoon in BHP . The trails are in good shape, slightly glazed ,icy in most sunny areas, but the suns rays havent done much damage yet. The cool weather is offsetting the usual erosion and soft trails at this time of year. Purple wax gave good grip , alternated with double poling in iced over areas. Birds Hill Provincial Park 6 months agoFast trails ,slightly glazed , partly icy in sunny areas which make for good double poling. The skate track has about 2cm of soft snow still not packed down under hard pack, but should make for fast skating once a few more users pack it all down. As evening wore on, I was doing mostly double poling. Very enjoyable spring skiing. Enjoy the weekend.
