Glorious powder at Bittersweet today! I skied North Star, Blue’s, Cottonwood, Oak Ridge, Crossover, the Ski Hut Trail, Blue Jay Hill, and return. The folks had obviously worked hard to groom their usual impeccable deep classic tracks, only to receive a big dump of fresh snow. The tracks were still there though, nice and firm and just barely visible under soft powder. It was a good day on the trails: even the steepest of descents were very peaceful in these conditions, although I had to work a bit harder than usual everywhere else. Assuming they have a chance to groom later this week, this weekend’s skiing should be phenomenal.
The skate trails had been resurfaced sometime after the new snow fell, with surprisingly deep grooves. But the snow is still soft and deep. I’d skip skate skiing for now, until it has a chance to firm up a bit.
The new signage is great, and I especially liked the little etiquette tips wherever skate and classic trails briefly overlap.
