Pleased to report that — despite bare patches, walkers’ pockmarked divots, icy snow and open water — Camp Morton is still very skiable! Assuming, of course, that your priorities are, like ours, to extend your ski season come what may… and not to enjoy a quiet commune with nature or pleasant conversation with your ski buddy. We sounded like a couple of graters hard at work levelling a gravel road, scraping across all that icy crust. Skating is better than classic right now, but either way, worth the trip for sure.
I found a ratcheting adjustable wrench with swivelling sockets on the bank of Pincherry Creek. If this fell out of your pocket while skiing (or more likely, off your groomer), it’s now in the ski shack.
