There is a special place in hell for hikers who walk directly in ski tracks, and one of its denizens tore up the entire outbound leg of the Sleeping Wolf trail. The Parks staff has generously packed the trails about ten feet wide to allow for multi-use, but this evil-doer still trod right in the grooves. However, snowshoers and fat bikers had all been all very courteous – not a print to be seen crossing ski tracks. Otherwise, the Seton Trails (which we skied this afternoon) were in great shape: a nice base of snow; deep, freshly groomed tracksetting; and none of the icy patches to which the Parks report alludes. Hills were fast but not too fast; scenery gorgeous; and warming huts clean and well-kept. Conditions will doubtless be changing with the big dump of snow from this evening’s blizzard, but it’s definitely worth the trip to Spruce Woods.
