  • There are skier-made tracks on all the classic trails, and they will likely still be good tomorrow morning. The Chickadee parking lot was busy.

Ed is right. The Lime Kiln trail, and likely the other classic trails, are in great shape! Pristine groomed tracks with almost no debris. Very fast at the end of the afternoon.

Trails look great here at Hecla! (We were snowshoeing, so saw a number of trails as we crossed.)

  • A skiff of new snow on a hard crusty base made skate skiing fast and fun. The classic tracks also worked well for us.

  • We skate skied most of the trails at Falcon Ridge today and were surprised at how good the snow coverage is. It is rugged country and needs more snow to cover some grass and twigs in sections, but there are kilometres that are clean and white as well. Watch for a few exposed rocks as you go on or off High Lake.

  • We skated on the GUR on fresh corduroy! Although it was slightly soft on the edges, overall it was just fine, and tomorrow it will be even better. Classic trails that we saw looked skier-tracked only, not machine groomed yet.
