All skate trails were groomed today. Classic trails were all groomed except for Big Woods, which we missed, but we will get it skied in tomorrow.

  • Trails groomed Wednesday after it snowed. Another inch or two of snow fell Thursday. Most of the trails have since been skied (skier tracked) so it’s in great shade. The beautiful forest sheltered me from the 36 km/h wind.

  • Did west Bluestem Fri. mid afternoon.Freshly groomed.Wonderful sunshine and cold.Glide was fair,a bit jerky in spots with a wee bit of snow blown in in spots.More traffic would help so get out there and enjoy!

  • From Syd Jones, Birds Hill Park’s Park Operations Supervisor, on Friday afternoon:
Victor’s team worked hard today to prepare the park for the weekend.
The roads have been plowed and trails are ready for use.
The fresh snow should improve the trail conditions. We apologize now for any problems the windy conditions cause. We tried to control t…[Read more]

I skied at Beaudry today. Elm and Grape were in very good shape. Across the river, Basswood was in amazing shape. Cottonwood was only skier tracked and rough though. And across the other river, Maple was in really good shape too.

  • Thursday late afternoon I was the first ski-jorer on soft corduroy on the north loops of the Spruce Trail. Trail was a bit softer than usual, but great for the dogs, and the forest provided shelter from the nasty wind. Many thanks to park staff for maintaining this great trail!

  • Thurs.a.m. Did west Bluestem.Skier tracked, glide was fair with new snow.Grooming of GUR taking place as of 11 a.m.

  • So, me and my friend G hit the trails at noon, Jan 25 in the heat of the day. Skied outgoing Esker to Chick, crossed over to Bluestem, did the Aspen loop west of Chick and then Esk back to the stables. The new snow had been skied in, the tracks well defined, and the glide was magnificent. No wind, and sunshine. Great ski on green wax.

Birds Hill Park, Tuesday afternoon, -10°.
Skate ski on the Group Use Road and the two internal bays: 5+ cm of snow has fallen on the park since Sunday evening. Manitoba Parks’ Interactive Map says the GUR was last groomed on Friday. Parts of the road were somewhat slow in the loose snow: the two internal bays and west of the Chickadee parking…[Read more]

    • Parks says it was groomed but it wasn’t…I was there Sunday, and it was in the same shape it was the previous weekend.. similar was stated about Spruce Trail for skate as well.. seemed they did some classic on Friday and didnt bother with the skate trails..

  • We skied the full Beaver pond trail on Mon. 23rd. Certainly agree with previous post, trail that crosses Creek has never been groomed, I don’t think this year. Information of this should be posted at the parking lot and it would be nice if there were MAPS available, as we don’t ski this area very often. There was fresh snow overnight, trail was…[Read more]

Bittersweet received 3-4 cm of light snow today. Nevertheless the classic trails are still providing good skiing. With more snow in the forecast Tuesday and Thursday, currently we plan to groom the classic trails on Friday, with the trails skied-in until then.
We plan to groom the skate trails Tuesday afternoon and will assess whether they…[Read more]

  • Sunday skate at BHP, evident it hasnt been groomed for a while.. the report says it was groomed on the 20th, but it sure didnt seem like it.. hard packed up the middle, loose snow on the edges… in all honesty looked the same as it did the previous weekend I was there.. still good conditions and no boot traffic which is always a nice bonus…

  • We skied the full 13km Beaver Pond trail on Saturday the 21st. The loop that crosses the creek and back is definitely not groomed and wasn’t marked that it was closed where we entered it at the “7” marker. When we exited at the “8” it said trail closed. Woops! Luckily it was a beautiful day to track our way through a 3km foot path…

From Syd Jones, Birds Hill Park’s Park Operations Supervisor, on Friday afternoon:
The trails are in not bad shape all considering (lack of snow). The tracks may be icy so be careful, and any hill areas may lack snow coverage in spots.

  • lynnmcmaster posted an update in the group Group logo of BittersweetBittersweet 1 week, 1 day ago

We skied all the classic trails yesterday. All are in good shape except for a blow out of the track at the bottom of the hill on Blue Jay. All skate trails in good shape

  • Weds.a.m.,did west Bluestem.Any new snow has been well worked in.Excellent conditions and lightning fast.

  • Tuesday afternoon, Birds Hill Park — Chickadee, Esker, LimeKiln, Bluestem, east Aspen (all classic trails except west Aspen), -10°.
~1 cm of snow had fallen on the trail system overnight. The new snow was in various states of having been skied-in, so yesterday’s fast trails were slightly slower to much slower today.

  • Monday afternoon we skied parts of Chickadee, Esker and west Bluestem. Tracks were firm and fast with excellent conditions. Lots of other skiers out enjoying them too. Thanks to BHP staff!
