    From Ardythe McMaster:
Bittersweet Trails are now closed. The March Sun has won again!
We thanks all those skiers who chose Bittersweet this year, some of them driving considerable distances. Near and far, we loved meeting you all!
We have some ideas for trails improvement for next year. Cookies are guaranteed!

We had hoped to ski Bittersweet today but luckily opted to give Ardythe a call first – sounds like skiing is done for the year. Trails have deteriorated too far: the track has sunk and the snow that’s left is ice. See you next year, Bittersweet!

    From Ardythe McMaster:
On Monday morning, some of the classic and skate trails, mostly in the vicinity of the Nordic Centre, were renovated and groomed: for classic North Star, Farm Trail, North Star, Blue’s trail and Caleb’s Way, and for skate Skaters Waltz and Oak Meadow. All are in good to very good condition. Snow on these groomed trails is…[Read more]

The skate trails are being groomed right now (Saturday morning).
Classic skiers today might want to bring klister, just in case.

    From Ardythe McMaster:
Here at Bittersweet, we received no snowfall from the Thursday storm. Further, the howling winds were unable to blow existing snow around, as the recent mild days have put a hardened layer over the snow-covered fields. The ski trails are fast, but so far, they are not icy. It is well to remember that we are halfway through…[Read more]

    From Ardythe McMaster:
Bittersweet Trails are in excellent condition. Ski weekends are dwindling in number as the season advances, so get out and ski these fine March days!

We did most of the runs on the east side Thursday, and the skiing was very good to excellent. Although the most of the trails haven’t been groomed for several days, they are still good and fast with excellent snow. I can speak for these runs: Northstar, cabin trail, farm, pine hill, the mogels, omega, archies swamp, big woods, the last part of…[Read more]

Yesterday we gave the golf course another try, but left shortly thereafter. Cannot recommend it at this time due to grooming issues similar to the report 2 months ago. Bittersweet which is 35 minutes away was in good shape today.

    From Ardythe McMaster:
After the big storm of last Sunday, we are happy to report that all our trails are now open once more, and beautifully groomed. Today’s skiers report that the trails are very good. While out on the trails these March days, celebrate the strengthening sun!

    From Ardythe McMaster on Saturday:
All Bittersweet trails have been freshly groomed and oh my, they do look inviting! The weekend weather looks to be ideal for skiing, with neither falling snow, frigid temperatures, nor howling winds. So skiers, we hope that you will get out there and ski this holiday weekend!

    From Ardythe McMaster:
Bittersweet trails lay buried through the week after Sunday’s snow storm. But today, Friday, as temperatures moderated, we were out grooming. All classic trails are now groomed, as are the following skate trails: Skaters’ Waltz, Oak Meadow, and The Freeway. What a treat to get out and ski again, after such a frigid week. Enjoy!

    From Ardythe McMaster:
The classic trails at Bittersweet were groomed on Thursday for those intrepid skiers. The skate trails, which were groomed on Sunday, have blown in, in open areas. Skating is very difficult in these frigid conditions, but our groomers promise to try to groom at least some of the trails nearest the Nordic Centre.

    From Esther MacKinlay on Wednesday:
We skied all of the trails at Bittersweet today. The classic tracks were firm and in very good condition. A little dusting of snow helped with the grip on our skin skis. The far side of the World Cup had some leaf debris which slowed us down abruptly on the downhills but otherwise, lots of snow coverage.

  • From Sue Davidson:

    From Ardythe McMaster:
All trails at Bittersweet were groomed Wednesday and Thursday. Today, Friday, it snowed lightly all day with about 2 cm of ‘feathers’. Skiers today reported that conditions were excellent, and that only the lead skier had to ‘break trail’, while everyone else just enjoyed the ride. The weekend promises to be even better.

The Skiing Conditions were excellent Friday afternoon with an inch of fresh snow on the tracks. We skiied about half the trails and the fresh snow was beautiful, and made the tracks a little slower but once the first person through packed it, it was actually pretty fast. Have a great Ski!

  • Just came from the location. If you are coming from away, you need to know there is no parking lot yet. There is a big wall of snow covering the road at the entrance to the Republic Park. The trail is extremely icy and in need of snow. Perhaps this is because the wind blows the snow right across the field off the tracks so it is still all ice.…[Read more]

Wednesday afternoon all of the trails on the lower part were freshly done: Reggies Run, Farm Trail, Pine Hill, Omega Trail and Blue’s, and Archie’s Swamp. We met Don and Ardythe on the groomer who said that the Cottonwood would likely be done Friday morning. The skate ski trails had a couple of inches on them. Thanks to the groomers for a job…[Read more]
