  • Lots of snow on top of Thursday’s grooming but there is now a well skied in skier track.

From Bittersweet Ski Club’s Facebook page on Saturday morning:
The groomers are headed out now. They are starting with the east side trails And will finish on the west side classic by the end of the day.

  • Classic skied GB on Monday and agree with Andy’s report. Just want to add that the Beaver Pond trail is only groomed up to the north warming hut (which is closed due to covid), where the groomer made a loop around the hut and went back the way he came.

  • From Andy Dwilow on Sunday afternoon:
Classic skied Grand Beach today. The single classic track was chiselled, firm, and fast – excellent! Terrain and course layout – world class!
The skate ski lane was, for the most part, soft, rutted, and uneven, with periodic areas of something pink (engine or hydraulic oil?) on it – poor! Interestingly, I…[Read more]

Classic skied starting at the farmhouse on Omega to Archie’s Swamp, Deep Woods, down Coyote to Cranberry, back up to Cottonwood, Red Hill and back to Archies and Omega avoiding the big wind. The grooming was perfect, the hills safe, and 10.5 km. a little more than an hour and a half. Yesterday, we did most of the other classic trails which were…[Read more]

I enjoyed skating the world cup trail yesterday, good firm base but a little drifting at some edges. They will be perfect tomorrow after a grooming. I didn’t ski the classic trails but they were groomed while I was out there and they looked perfect.

Very Good conditions today at Bittersweet on all the trails. Classic tracks were recently tracked and in nice shape with the odd area that had blow in. Skate tracks were also groomed recently and in excellent shape. Another great day classic and skate skiing the hills at Bittersweet .

  • There had been about 3 inches of fresh snow on the well groomed track. Slow going but beautiful.
    Needs Skiers!

  • Skied Grand beach this afternoon. Excellent classic track. It took about 15-20 minutes till my fingers warmed up and then was excellent. There s a skate track but no tracks on it, classic was fun. Thanks to the groomers

  • We drove out from Winnipeg only to discover that the Grand Beach trails still haven’t been groomed after the latest dump of snow. The Squirrel/Beaver trail was skier tracked.
Disappointed that this potentially world class ski area is so poorly maintained in terms of grooming.

Skied most of the trails east of the clubhouse, and all were in excellent condition as KatG posted below. Here are the new trails for those who want to know. Hartley’s Hills leaves from White’s way as you make the climb up toward Pine Hill. The trail is two way. There are extremely beautiful views in all directions as you can see the Ski Hut…[Read more]

    • Just want to add to Dale’s report in that I found all the grooming on the hills to be be straight and true making them as safe as can be!

Had a wonderful ski at Bittersweet today, it never disappoints and is truly some of the best skiing in MB. Classic trails were nicely groomed and skate trails were fresh, unskied corduroy. Hills were amazing. Lookouts were so beautiful. New singage is incredible! Icing on the cake was having a lovely chat with Ardythe when she came to scoop out…[Read more]

On December 28, skied the SW corner of the Bittersweet trails. We were delighted with the fresh grooming- the new snow was a bit slow. New signage is great! Superb day. Thank you!

A friend and I skied from Lester Beach to squirrel trail and back today. Lots of snow, very slow but no debris at all. Excited for the groomer to go through again! Does anyone else think the trail closed sign at beaver pond should be at the beginning of the trail and not at the end? Maybe they won’t need to close it at all this year.

From Mark Sinclair, Grand Beach Park Manager, on Thursday at noon:
Grand Beach ski trails have been cleaned and are groomed with a minimal snow cover.
We need to get a good snowfall before they will be in great shape.
    Have a happy holiday season.

A light snow has improved the Grand Beach classic ski track. Still early season ski conditions.
The skate ski base looks soft and there is still some debris on it but people were still out skate skiing. Also the odd footprint has brought debris, sand or stones within eyesight.
One more snow and grooming should again improve the ski trail…[Read more]

  • Skied Grand Beach today. Parts of beaver, squirrel, and boulder. Surprised how skiable the track actually was. Not machine groomed but the skiier groomed track was fair with some debris but no real rocks exposed. The debris didn’t stick to my skiis like in the warmer weather. The beaver pond part of the beaver trail was closed. We did the classic…[Read more]

From Andy Dwilow on Sunday afternoon:
Classic skied Bittersweet on good skis today. The tracks on the “relative” flats were fabulous. Steep downhills were very difficult (side stepped down several) since still a lot of undulations and off cambers. Skate trail looked real soft and unskied with only a preliminary roll. Go for the classic, stay awa…[Read more]

  • Did I have fun at Grand Beach yesterday? Yes. Is the skiing here an absolute gong show right now? Also yes.

In my view, recent reports underestimate the amount of debris on the trails. Twigs and needles are pretty much constant; branches and logs are regular. We are going to need a LOT more snow to bury this stuff deep enough that it won’t just b…[Read more]
