The Wildwood trails are groomed for classic and skate. In recent years walking trails have been added to encourage physical activity in a variety of ways, and signage was added. Three main entrance sites are available:
The Wildewood Club at the corner of the Wildewood Golf Course (North Drive at Netley), with a good parking area next to the Tennis Club.
The corner of Netley and Oakenwald, with some on street parking at Netley and Oakenwald.
The corner of Oakenwald and North Drive, close to the Wildwood Park Community Centre, with on street parking.
The ski trails are tracked by CCSAM, and costs are shared by the The Wildwood Community Centre and St Johns-Ravenscourt School.
Envelopes are available at the various entry points for people to make additional donations to help defray the grooming costs. Trail grooming costs ~$3500 every season.
Donations can be made out to the Wildwood Park Community Club, and an income tax receipt will be sent out for the supporting gift.
Contact Harvey Peltz firstname.lastname@example.org or Bob Stewart email@example.com for more information. We thank walkers (and their dogs) for using the walking trails which are signed. Walking on ski trails (both the tracks and the packed areas) damages them. Your cooperation is appreciated.
Still lots of hard packed vehicle tracks. Trail doesn’t appear to have been formally groomed (but skied in by skiers) but is skiable. A few areas where there is lots of debris from tree clearing. It looks like the vehicle tracks were for tree removal.
Went out for a ski last night, first of one the season so we were a bit rusty but the trail is still pretty rough. Doable for sure, but there seems to be a lot of off-roading in the park so the trail disappears and reappears at random.
Classic at Wildwood this evening at 630 PM.. classic trails are shallow, blown in at times.. drifting in other places. Very slow conditions.. track is firm, but poling was very soft alot of times. Skate trail has blown in areas as well.. overall its like that super hard pack sand papery drift where no mater what you do…. you aren’t gliding…
“Late Breaking News”…. The Wildwood Community Centre and golf course were groomed Thursday morning (thanks Jim) and are in great condition. It’s not too late to support the trails-an initiative between the community centre and Saint-John’s Ravenscourt school. Pick up a donation envelope at the trail heads.
