The Whiteshell Cross Country Ski Club maintains 40K of classic ski trails in Canadian Shield forest and on the Pinawa Golf Course. 12K of those trails also have a skate ski track beside the classic track. 1.2K of the trails is lit.
The Pinawa Club is open year round as a licensed restaurant and lounge. Skiers are welcome to use this facility. Food or beverages, not purchased in the Pinawa Club, are not permitted in the building (please save your bag lunches and thermoses for the trail). The Pinawa Club is home for many member and non-member activities – curling, bingo & club lunches to name a few. If your group is large please contact the Manager (204) 753-2294 prior to arrival to ensure that the facility can accommodate your party. It is important to the CCSAM and the Whiteshell Ski Club that all skiers respect Pinawa Club staff & members and comply with the rules and regulations. Maintaining our good relations will ensure the building remains available to us for special events such as the annual Manitoba Loppet.
The Whiteshell Ski Club maintains warming huts located on the Red, Orange, and English River Trails. Skiers may use them at their own discretion. The Club charges no fees, takes no bookings, and assumes no responsibility for the safety and well-being of the users. Users should be self-sufficient and be prepared to handle any eventuality (for example, lack of firewood, injuries, accidents, poor signal strength for cell phones, and the possibility of sharing the premises with others.) Donations help our non-profit, volunteer group to cover the cost of maintaining the trail network and the warming huts. For assistance in an emergency, call 911.

We skied the outbound Orange, JGG Freeway and English River return yesterday. Orange had not been recently groomed so was a bit of a slog. At about the 3km mark we came across open water at the bottom of the 90 degree downhill (you will know what I mean if you’ve skied it). As it was very cold the slush immediately iced up on our skis. The…[Read more]

On Friday we passed the groomer, the trails were set for classic and skate skiing. They did receive more snow than Winnipeg. We skied portions of the Red Trail. It is always so nicely groomed that I went back today Sunday and classic skied all the trails, except Orange which was not set. The trails in the forest are firm and deep. Open areas have…[Read more]

We skied the perimeter of the orange, black, green and blue trails this morning using our skin skis. The black portion was definitely the most challenging trail technically that I have skied, at least in Manitoba. Luckily there was lots of soft snow for some padding on the frequent crashes. We felt as though the trail had been developed by Dr…[Read more]

Tuesday afternoon we had an exciting ski on blue, green (English River) and part of red. Red had been more recently groomed, but classic tracks were not as deep as blue/green. Red’s skate deck is in fine shape with just a few V’s. Overall, classic tracks were very good with only a couple of exposed rock areas – a bit more snow would help. Blue was…[Read more]

From Edward Zwingerman on Sunday:
Jan. 29th skied Orange trail. Still some grassy and twig spots on the trail. Beautiful snow laden trees with lots of wildlife. The Orange trail is pretty narrow and some hills are tricky so novices may want to try the Red trail. -

We had a wonderful classic ski on the blue, green and part of the red trails early Saturday afternoon. While there was a light new snowfall on all of green (English River); blue and red were well skied in with great glide. The soft conditions made for safer downhills, and it wasn’t busy until later. The trees were beautifully coated in white and…[Read more]

Skied the Red trail yesterday and Blue trail today. Both skate and classic part of the red was freshly set and in good condition with only a couple rocks showing through on the steep ups. Blue trail is still a little rough. Definitely don’t try your good skis as there are many small areas where rocks are poking through some of which will soon be a…[Read more]

There is a Classic track set on the Red 7km trail. 2km and 5km loops not set. Warning: Many exposed rocks along the way which could wreck those brand new skis, so ski with caution or use rock skis. There is also a classic and a skate track set on the golf course which is likely a safer bet for good skis.
