  • I had an excellent long skate ski on my local storm water retention pond this morning (Wednesday).
    The thick ice is fully covered with up to 4 cm of snow, and the bond of snow to ice is very good.
    I’m really glad I chose my rock skating skis; apparently kids in my neighborhood like to throw stones onto frozen ponds.

  • I headed over to my local park at noon with my skating skis.
    There’s a ~1K continous loop of crust, so I tried it first. Too soft, as I thought it would be. It had frozen very well overnight, but by noon at -3° and sunny, I was a few hours too late.
