From David Lumgair on Friday evening:
    Hello ski folks,
    Shannondale welcomes you!
Yes, 2 or 3 inches of snow has fallen very recently, and we groomed it!
The 2 weeks weather forecast suggests 2 days for skiing and then it melts a little every day.
That would be this Sunday and Monday!…[Read more]

  • Notre Dame had 3″ of snow this week. La Perdrix trails packed and groomed early Sunday morning Feb 28th.

I skied all of the skate trails yesterday afternoon. There was about 2 cm of fresh snow and very few bare spots. More snow is falling today and I anticipate another go at it tomorrow.

  • Figured yesterday would be a day for klister, given the icy conditions elsewhere and the warm temps and rain on the drive up. But ended up using polar wax, thanks to a dropping thermometer and a thin skim of fresh-fallen snow (which became a medium skim, by the time we left). Conditions exceeded expectations.

The base has become somewhat icy and…[Read more]

From David Lumgair on Friday evening:
The following report is from a family that skied here at noon today. it was melting here. We had a wee bit of snow this afternoon.

    “Hellooooooo!
Northwest up and Northwest down are great. The Wilson Meadow is grass and mud.
Zig zag is great for skate.
    Tempest was mediocre
    The hump is good.
    The knob is…[Read more]

  • All trails groomed on Friday night. 3 cms of fresh snow has made a world of difference to the ski trails. Great looking corduroy on the skate trails. Expectations are that trails will be in great shape until, at least, early next week!

Feb 26 – Trails open and groomed
Snow fell in the valley today.
Don waited for cool evening temperatures and groomed Baby Moon, Stroll, All of Blue Moon and Roger’s Pass.
Need to keep skiing in Easy Street and Club Trail.

    Have a great weekend everyone!

  • Two foot base and freshly groomed as of February 25. Good conditions on all trails. Chalet gate is open and parking area is available there as well as parking at Pelican Point trailhead. If you are unfamiliar with the trails check the map at the trailhead and follow the colored arrows clockwise around the loops.

  • Did bluestem this morning.. tracks are still excellent.. watch out for lots of pinecone debris especially in the first km or so of the trail.. I used skins on a compacted/ice mix and they worked out OK.. they were a little draggy at times, but I had the binding set forward..could probably back it off and got some more glide..at about the 7km mark…[Read more]

From Ardythe McMaster on Thursday evening:
We were excited to have 4.5 cm fresh fluffy snow on Wednesday morning. Unfortunately, it proved just too little to enable a good grooming job, groomer’s skills notwithstanding. Skiers should ski only on trails which have been freshly groomed.

  • Excellent conditions this afternoon in BHP. A light dusting of snow made the icy tracks less slippery, although they are still a bit glazed in some areas . The skate track looks perfect . Full moon makes for great evening skiing. Enjoy while it lasts.

  • Hi there!
We are heading out to Westhawk lake this weekend. Does anyone have any thoughts about trails and conditions? Is there a trail map for that area?
Thanks in advance for any help you can give!

  • Aspen was extremely fast yesterday! 4:36/km yesterday on average over 7 km and that’s also using skin skis. I didn’t have one problem with grip yesterday on the skins, which doesn’t come as a surprise. The only time i have any issue with skins, are conditions with freshly fallen snow. Fast fast fast conditions out there and you don’t want to…[Read more]

Wildwood was icy and fast 🙂 🙂 Tracks still quite well formed, I used klister wax which helped a lot! So much fun.
Crescent drive park (golf course), tracks are deteriorating/melted quite a bit, with lots of dog prints..
Red river from Churchill south, not worth it.. So uneven from snow softening then freezing.. we glided a bit on icy snow…[Read more]

  • The GUR was icy in places and fast. Poling was easy, but planting a ski was often a challenge.

  • Over all: good to excellent skiing conditions
All Skate trails are groomed and in excellent condition.
Classic tracks are icy, but well formed.
Brent’s loop and roller coaster are particularly fine
Thin spots around pump house, north side of Graveyard Loop, Black Diamond hill , Blue Oval and Backslide.
Seine River has flooded , so creek c…[Read more]

  • Bluestem chickadee and aspen are lightly mixed
About 10% good snow with the rest starting to transform and more ice than snow. I used violet wax that did not work. I think klister would not have been out of line and would probably have worked better.

Spent a couple hours checking the trails today.
Monday’s heatwave did a number on the trails but not all is lost.
If we get a little snow we should still be able to ski and the creek crossings are holding well.
So we will close the trails temporarily to preserve what we have and then keep doing the snow dance for a little more snow to come so we c…[Read more]

Feb 23rd. The trails held up well post warm weather yesterday. However, they are indeed very icy, and are covered in a lot of pine needle and leaf debris. It was still a lovely fast ski, with plenty of icy snow cover.
