Westerns Race Report: Gold for Manitoba!

Our Manitoba team had amazing results on Day 1 of the Haywood Western Canadian Championships – Buff Sprints!

Notably Conor McGovern qualified with the fastest time (3 Manitobans were in the top 7 Junior Boy qualifying times) and Casey Nelson qualified 3rd fastest in Juvenile Girls.

Everyone raced well and made us proud. Conor McGovern won GOLD! Lucas Smith (6th overall) also qualified for the A final which was exciting to see! Casey Nelson experienced some of the tactical challenges of sprinting in tight groups, and ended with a very strong B final finish (8th overall).

Our new YES wax kit has been a wonderful addition and time saver.  Skis today were super fast!

Racing continues today and tomorrow.

Manitoba In The Medals At Westerns

Our Team Manitoba athletes have been racing very well in Canmore these past couple of days.

Two silvers for Levi Nadlersmith (Junior Boys, Downtown Nordic) & Conor McGovern (Juvenile Boys, Red River Nordic) in Fridays classic race. And gold for Conor in Saturday’s individual free sprint!

Last day of racing is today.
