Nationals Wrap Up

You guys! Our team is home from Thunder Bay boasting a record breaking performance overall for Manitoba at our National Championships.

On Saturday Jesse Bachinsky (Kenora Nordic) and his Guide Brendan, a duo who had been turning heads all week, earned GOLD in their final race, the 10km Free (Para Men Standing). And you heard about Levi Nadlersmith’s (Downtown Nordic) SILVER medal in Thursday’s Individual Sprint (Junior Boys).

Division Aggregate results are now published. Manitoba ranks 6th overall with a Junior rank of 6th – up from 7th spot last year (and 8th the year before, notice the trend?).

Congratulations to the whole team – all of the athletes, the coaches, the parents, everyone. It takes a ski village!

Silver Medal for Nadlersmith at National Championships

Another great day for Manitoba on Day 4 (Thursday) at the Canadian National Championships in Thunder Bay. In the Classic Individual Sprint event both Conor McGovern (Red River Nordic) and Levi Nadlersmith (Downtown Nordic) advanced to the A finals in their respective age groups.

Levi ended up winning a Silver medal in Junior boys and Conor was 5th in Juvenile boys. It was incredibly exciting to watch! Simon Giasson (Red River Nordic) narrowly missed qualifying for the quarter finals, finishing one spot out of the top 30, by just .07 seconds. And Jesse Bachinsky finished just outside of a podium position in 4th place.

Manitoba skiers have not performed this well at the National Championships in….well, it’s been a long time – great job team Toba!

Final race of the week is today – Mass start Free technique.
