A note about the Falcon Combined: This a great opportunity to experience a full range of Nordic Events both in Cross Country Skiing and Biathlon. On day one, the new format of CCSAM Provincial Sprint Championship is King’s Court where every heat matters towards final placing as per age categories and the competition is coed. This format has been run successfully in Canmore and Thunder Bay in cup races this year. Following awards, the Biathlon Range will be open courtesy of Biathlon MB for those 11+ who wish to experience shooting for the first time.

For day two if you have ever dreamed of participating in a Biathlon event we have developmental categories set up in Sunday’s Biathlon MB’s sprint race. You will also have an opportunity to see our Biathletes in action who have been making their mark this year with impressive performances across Canada.

Finally, as a family Nordic center Falcon Ridge is fantastic! Downhill skiing, snowboarding, tubing and of course cross country skiing is right there. Falcon Ridge has a warm chalet with a restaurant and (often) live music.

Race Notice Falcon Combined – 2016 v2

For those new to the event the Falcon Combined is a two day celebration of Cross Country Ski Racing and Biathlon competition. There is something here for the whole family and a racing discount if you participate on both days.

Saturday Jan. 30th is a MB Cup Cross Country Ski race in the morning.
In the afternoon we open the Biathlon Range for 11+ aged skiers to try their hand at shooting.
On Saturday morning our RRNSBC Jackrabbits have a fun games based session followed by a ski adventure on the Falcon Trails.
Of course many of our skiers either after the races, between the open range, or after the Jackrabbit session try their hand at downhill skiing or snowboarding.

On Sunday Jan. 31st there is a Biathlon Cup race with categories for experienced racers and categories for youth and adults looking to try Biathlon for the first time. This is an excellent opportunity for the whole community — athletes, volunteers, family members (well everyone is a volunteer) to experience competition on the site of the Western Canadian Biathlon Championships hosted this year by RRNSBC on Feb. 26th- 28th.

The Falcon Combined is a real blast a true Nordic Ski/Biathlon Adventure.

Hope to see you there.

Chris Roe – Sat. Jan. 30th Nordic Cup race Organizer and
Lin-P’ing Choo Smith – Sun. Jan. 31st Biathlon Cup race and event organizer.

Falcon Combined & Birch Tour Cancelled

The organizing committee for the Falcon Combined has made the decision the cancel the event for Jan. 31st – Feb. 1st. Cold temperatures, combined with windchill and course safety concerns are among some of the factors that were considered in the decision. We will keep you informed about further developments as we look to reschedule the Falcon Combined.

Sincerely,

Chris Roe on behalf of the RRNSBC Falcon Combined organizing committee.

The Birch executives have made the call to postpone our Birch Tour that was scheduled for Feb 1 due to the icy ski conditions. We will reschedule once we have better snow conditions for skiing.
